COLOR!!!

Color. It sets the mood. Makes a statement. Tells the story. From wedding invitations to home decorating, color selection is a powerful tool.

And, as with every January, we were waiting with bated breath for -- what else? -- the Pantone Color of the Year. So, without further ado, we present the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year, RADIANT ORCHID!

Pantone describes the color like this: "Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple -- one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health."

My goodness, I want that!

But let's say, as tempting as it is, Radiant Orchid just doesn't speak your language. Let's explore some other options.

Romantic? Soft blush pink, warm brown, and soft turquoise whispers everlasting love.

Playful? Yellow and mint beckon you to join the fun.

Earthy? Sage and coral keep you grounded.

And with everything at our fingertips on the Internet, the resources for color ideas and combinations is endless!

We love scouring the Internet for inspiration. There are so many wonderful sites we've come across, but three of our favorites are featured above:  top and third photo, http://www.theperfectpalette.com/; second photo,  http://design-seeds.com/;  and bottom, http://designiswhatyoucangetawaywith.wordpress.com/.

Hartley Botanica

From the moment we walked into the reception area from the parking lot, we felt our blood pressure drop about 10 degrees. Yes. It's that kind of atmosphere.
We set up our booth and enjoyed talking to some of our fellow vendors. What a wonderful evening it was. We met new brides and even ran into some of our current brides!
The food, as always, was delicious!
 Isn't it absolutely magical?!?!
One of the things we love most about our job is that we get to work with people at one of the most exciting times of their lives, their fairytale :)
Our business partnership works because our friendship is special and important to us. We are blessed to have been friends through thick and thin for the past 30 years!

Heidi & Travis - A Beautiful Day at Westlake Village Inn

Anything that starts off this adorable has got to be something special.  And it was...

Our dear friends, Bruce and his daughter Heidi.

Heidi and Travis, with Pastor Lance Stack officiating, exchange vows on this beautiful Southern California day.

We were honored and blessed to provide the paper details for this special day.

The Kiss!

Each table centerpiece was a different delicious flavor of bundt cake by Nothing Bundt Cakes.  It was such a unique and beautiful touch to each table.  And the best part was we got to serve our own cake and didn't have to wait for anyone to bring it to us!  We were very pleased!

Blurry (we're not photographers, folks!) but sweet -- the couple's first dance as husband and wife.

The Sweetheart table.  Stunning!

Congratulations to Heidi and Travis, and God's richest blessings on your marriage!

Holiday Season, sure -- but it's also... Engagement Season!!!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year."  Oh, yes, truer words were never spoken.  This "time of the year" not only brings the holidays, but it also brings the holiday marriage proposals and all the wonderful celebrations that follow.

Yes, folks, this is engagement season!  According to WeddingWire, 33 percent of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. Families are together, sparkly lights abound and people are in the mood to unwrap things!

So once there's a "ring on it," (we see a musical theme developing)  the wedding planning begins!  And one of the most fun aspects of this process is the popular Save-the-Date card.  Case in point below:

Do you need to Save the Date?!  If so, congratulations!  And then let us help you do it in style -- contact us at thepombasket@gmail.com to get started today!

Coral & Navy Owl Baby Shower

A few months ago we had the privilege of being featured on the blog Grey Likes Baby for providing the paper designs for a cute little owl baby shower for one of our favorite photographers, Brienne Shepard of Brienne Michelle Photography.

The fun color scheme of coral and navy coupled with the cuteness of owls combined to make an adorable celebration welcoming the impending arrival a darling little girl, Elena Phoenix.

We designed the invitations, the owl banner, informational placards, and menus.

The talented Emilie Hegg of Tasteful Tatters styled the shower decorations and even provided a onesie-designing station where guests could use their creativity to embellish the little T-shirts meant to keep little Elena looking good for months to come.

A master at mixing color, form, and texture, Lindsay Schmidt of Petalicious provided the spectacular flower arrangements.

The gorgeous plates, cups, and flatware were provided by Kathy Le Backes at The Vintage Table Co.

The baked goods and desserts, including these picture perfect nest cupcakes, were provided by Andrea Walters, Melanie Pace, Amanda Canfield.
All the photographs were taken by Brienne Michelle herself.
Welcome little Elena!

Just Lovely! A Westlake Wedding

We had such a wonderful experience working with our bride, Jennifer, on this wedding suite of designs!  She wanted us to design a laid-back yet elegant invitation design, and we were all so pleased with the end results!

We also love, love, love being asked to design the paper details for the wedding day -- table numbers, name cards, menus, seating assignment chart, and programs.  We had such fun with this gorgeous color scheme.

Since the wedding was outside, the bride wanted her program to be printed on fans so the guests could keep cool while keeping informed :)

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Greg Kennick
and best wishes for a happy life together
as husband and wife!
